Decoro Urbano
Urban Decor
Castell’Arquato is a splendid medieval village structured between the upper town, with its monumental square overlooking the Collegiate Church, the Podestà Palace and the Visconti Fortress, and the lower town, more recent and functional, with commercial activities, residential areas and parking facilities. The Municipality commissioned our studio with the “Decoro urbano Castell’Arquato” project, aimed at improving pedestrian accessibility for residents, shop owners and tourists. Following a careful study of vehicular and pedestrian routes and of the connections between parking areas and points of interest, “Historic Centre” signs and informational totems were designed and installed, harmonized with the existing urban context. The totems are characterized by an elegant vertical element made of two steel plates fixed together by a central brass plate, with modular, interchangeable plaques. They guide visitors to around thirty cultural and commercial points of interest and, at key access nodes, also integrate maps. The project also includes new coordinated waste bins with minimal footprint, featuring integrated ashtrays and the engraved name of the village, contributing to an orderly, functional and refined urban image.
